Football News: Tottenham Hotspur 'to reject second Bayern bid for Harry Kane'

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to reject Bayern Munich's second bid for striker Harry Kane, according to reports.

After failing with an earlier proposal of of €70 million (£59.8 million), the German champions are said to have made a new offer totaling €80 million (£68.4 million).

Kane is said to have initially ruled out a move abroad, but he has since changed his mind and would be willing to join Bayern in order to finally win a big prize.

As things stand, the 29-year-old could walk away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for nothing in 2024, but Daniel Levy is still refusing to hear bids for his star player.

As a result, according to the Daily Mail, Bayern's second approach will be immediately rejected by Tottenham, who are showing no signs of relenting despite Kane's precarious contract position.

Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is said to have made a personal effort to recruit Kane, whom he sees as the ideal long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.

The former Chelsea manager will reportedly go to great lengths to ensure Kane's family has a smooth transition to life in Germany, providing housing, language support, and school spaces for his children.

Bayern's approaches, however, have been received with a cold shoulder by Levy, who expects Kane to stay with the Lilywhites for the 2023-24 season and is willing to take the risk of letting the forward to enter the final year of his contract.

Kane is slated to return to Hotspur Way for pre-season training on Wednesday, and the England captain is anticipated to have heated discussions with new boss Ange Postecoglou about his future.

Spurs are thought to have offered Kane a lucrative new contract, but the striker is yet to put pen to paper, preferring to meet with Postecoglou in person before making any definitive decisions.

Postecoglou has signed James Maddison from Leicester City in an attempt to bring his high-intensity, aggressive style of football to Tottenham, as well as custodian Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli amid uncertainty about Hugo Lloris' future.

Dejan Kulusevski's loan move from Juventus has also been transformed into a permanent contract, and there is hope that Postecoglou's 4-3-3 formation can finally bring long-awaited success to North London and break Spurs' 15-year trophy drought.

Kane has yet to win a major trophy at Tottenham, but he is closing in on Alan Shearer at the top of the Premier League goalscoring rankings - an achievement he appears to be limited to working towards at Tottenham next season after Manchester United dropped their interest.

With 30 Premier League goals last season, the Englishman went onto 213 Premier League goals, shattering Jimmy Greaves' all-time Spurs record and passing Wayne Rooney at the top of the England statistics.

However, Spurs finished eighth in the Premier League, meaning Kane will miss out on European competition for the first time in his professional career next season.
