Football News: Chelsea ready to push for Paulo Dybala deal

Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea's head coach, is said to have suggested that the club try to sign Roma star Paulo Dybala.

The Blues are at the beginnings of a new era under a new manager, exacerbated by a lack of European football and a pressing need to get back on track financially to meet regulations.

For the time being, that appears to have been accomplished, with Chelsea raising roughly £200 million from the sale of six players, with more to follow in due course.

Chelsea have signed Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson for a combined sum of over £84 million, allowing Pochettino to concentrate on other areas of the pitch.

However, after telling fans that additional players would be arriving at Stamford Bridge, it appears that Pochettino is looking for another frontman at a low cost.

According to transfer writer Pedro Almeida on Twitter, Pochettino is looking to sign his Argentine colleague Dybala in the next weeks.

According to the source, contact has already been made with the player's agent to see whether he would be interested in transferring to West London.

Dybala decided to join Roma on a free transfer last summer, hoping to be offered regular first-team games in a squad that was improving under Jose Mourinho.

Dybala decided to join Roma on a free transfer last summer, hoping to be offered regular first-team games in a squad that was improving under Jose Mourinho.

While Roma struggled in Serie A, they advanced to the Europa League final, where they were defeated on penalties by Sevilla after Dybala had given them the lead.

The 29-year-old contributed 18 goals and eight assists in 38 games, a performance that has clubs taking note of the release clauses included into his contract.

In terms of foreign clubs, Dybala is available for merely €12 million (£10.24 million), leaving Roma in limbo as they try to retain the services of perhaps their most important player.

Pochettino is a long-time admirer of Dybala, having attempted to sign him when at Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.

More clubs, such as Manchester United, have already expressed interest, and it is possible that more opportunities will surface in Serie A, for a bigger release clause, or elsewhere.
