Football News: PSG 'tell Mbappe they will have to sell teammates if he leaves on a free'

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly informed Kylian Mbappe that if he attempts to negotiate a free transfer to Real Madrid next summer, they would be obliged to sell some of his teammates.

Last year, the France international appeared to be on his way to joining Los Blancos before doing a U-turn and signing a new two-year contract with PSG, which included a 12-month extension.

Mbappe has now entered the final year of his contract at PSG and is said to have handed in a letter declaring that he does not want to exercise the option to extend his contract until 2025, allowing him to go for free in the summer of 2024.

The 24-year-old forward has reiterated that he wants to stay with the Ligue 1 winners for the next season, but talk about his long-term future continues.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently confessed that he was "shocked" and "disappointed" to learn of Mbappe's intention to move on free when his contract expired.

Al-Khelaifi, on the other hand, has declared that Mbappe has a two-week deadline to make a final choice on his future at the club, and has refused to rule out the possibility of selling their star striker this summer.

According to Sky Sports News, if Mbappe tries to leave PSG for free next summer, the financial impact on the club would be so severe that the club would be obliged to sell a number of first-team players.

According to the source, the Frenchman is being encouraged to keep his previous commitment with the club to not leave the Parc des Princes for free.

PSG are thought to be open to selling Mbappe to Real Madrid next summer if he agrees to extend his contract until 2025, as they believe it will benefit both sides, with the French club collecting a large transfer fee and the attacker securing his dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to the source, Mbappe's present behaviour is 'paralysing' PSG, and the attacker has been warned, "If you want to go, go now."

Mbappe has spent the last six seasons with PSG, where he has set a club record with 212 goals in 260 games across all competitions while also collecting 12 domestic trophies, including five Ligue 1 titles.

While Real Madrid has long been a fan of Mbappe, who was recently named captain of the France national team, a number of big Premier League clubs have also expressed an interest.

If Qatari investor Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani completes a takeover of Manchester United, the club will allegedly contemplate a big-money move for Mbappe.

Arsenal are also thought to be considering a move for the Frenchman, although in 2024, while a new rumour suggests that Liverpool are willing to smash the world transfer record and spend up to $300 million (£237.1 million) to bring the striker to Anfield.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are regarded to be one of the few clubs in Europe with the financial resources to sign Mbappe, but manager Pep Guardiola has declared that the treble champions will not pursue a deal for PSG's No.7 and has intimated that the striker already has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
