Angelique Kerber (Germany) defeated Venus Williams (USA) in straight sets 7-6(7-3) and 6-3 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden at Indian Wells, California, USA on Thursday. The first set was closely contested going to a tie-break, and it was Angelique Kerber who won it 7-6(7-3) Venus Williams was unable to mount a comeback as she fell 6-3 in the second set ending her championship hopes at Indian Wells. Angelique Kerber will take on Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) in the semi-finals.
