Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Nahuel Molina this summer.
After a string of victories in recent weeks, City is still on track to capture the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble.
Nonetheless, Pep Guardiola is anticipated to make changes to his first-team roster over the summer, notably in central midfield, where at least one vital player is in doubt.
However, the full-back positions continue to be a source of concern, with versatile Joao Cancelo, who can play on both flanks, perhaps being sold at the conclusion of the season following his loan term with Bayern Munich.
Furthermore, long-serving Kyle Walker will be 33 later this month, with no assurance that he will sign a new contract.
While teenager Rico Lewis has emerged as a first-team option this season, Guardiola will not overuse the 18-year-old at this stage of his career, as he did with Phil Foden earlier.
Guardiola is considering signing Molina from Atletico Madrid, according to Fichajes.
The 25-year-old, who can also play right wing-back and right midfield, has had a solid first season at Wanda Metropolitano, scoring three goals and assisting twice in 28 La Liga appearances.
Molina made six starts when Argentina won the World Cup at the end of last year, propelling Diego Simeone's team to second place in Spain's premier division.
According to the sources, Atletico would seek around €60 million (£52.25 million) if City exhibited interest, which is four times what they paid Udinese less than a year ago.
However, City are reportedly willing to meet that valuation if it helps them bring more balance to their defence, which may be helped by perhaps moving Cancelo.
With Molina's contract expiring in 2027, Atletico Madrid is in a position where they do not have to sell him.
If Molina leaves, Simeone will be forced to acquire two new right-backs, with Matt Doherty set to go on a free transfer at the conclusion of the season.
