Liverpool have reportedly inquired about Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio's availability.
As of now, the Reds' center-back possibilities include Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez.
Following an unsatisfactory 2022-23 season that will end without a title, Liverpool may look to bolster their defence ahead of next season.
Inacio appears to be a target for the Merseyside club during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Liverpool have already held negotiations to determine the viability of a summer deal for the 21-year-old, according to Le Parisien.
The youthful center-back is highly respected at Sporting, where he has progressed from the youth ranks to become a first-team regular.
Inacio has made 118 appearances for the Portuguese giants in all competitions, contributing 10 goals and eight assists.
Sporting are unwilling to allow Inacio depart for anything less than the €45 million (£40 million) release clause in his contract.
PSG director Luis Campos has been keeping an eye on Inacio, and the French giants might give competition for his signature.
Manchester United, according to a recent source, are also interested, with several of their present defensive options due to leave this summer.
After sliding down the pecking order following the signing of Lisandro Martinez last summer, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof may hunt for regular playing time elsewhere.
Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones will leave on free transfers at the conclusion of the season, while Eric Bailly will return following a loan spell with Marseille.
Liverpool, meanwhile, defeated Brentford 1-0 on Saturday to move into fifth place and one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have one games in hand.
