Football News: Liverpool still hopeful of signing an unhappy Aurelien Tchouameni

According to reports, Liverpool could rekindle their interest in Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, since the French midfielder is 'unhappy' with his current situation at Real Madrid.

During the summer transfer window, Jurgen Klopp's side were extensively connected with the 23-year-old, but Real Madrid won the race to capture him in a big-money move from Monaco.

Tchouameni has been a regular for Los Blancos this season, appearing on 43 times in all competitions and contributing four assists.

He has started six of his side's past seven La Liga games, although he has not been in Los Blancos' starting XI in the Champions League since the end of October.

Meanwhile, in Saturday night's Copa del Rey final against Osasuna, the midfielder was substituted during a moment in which Los Blancos were attempting to retake the lead.

Real Madrid are reportedly close to completing a deal for Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, while Eduardo Camavinga, despite usually playing as a left-back in recent months, is regarded as a long-term alternative in the holding midfield position.

Meanwhile, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are poised to sign new one-year contracts with Carlo Ancelotti's side, who will host Manchester City at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

Last month, it was reported that a number of Premier League clubs were monitoring Tchouameni's status amid speculation that he would become available for trade.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are planning to buy two central midfielders this summer, and Tchouameni is still on their radar.

According to the source, Tchouameni is 'unhappy' with his current circumstances at Real Madrid and may contemplate his future during the summer market.

Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, stated at the end of April that the Frenchman still had a lot of work to do in order to become a top midfielder at the highest level.

"I think Tchouameni is an important player because covers our central defenders well, he's good in the penalty area when the rivals enter,"

Marca quoted the Italian as saying.

"However, with the ball he needs to improve, he's very young and he's learning. I told him not to move so much, because he has a lot of energy and sometimes he loses his position."

Liverpool are strongly in contention for a top-four finish in the Premier League rankings, currently one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, despite having one games in hand.
