Football News: Liverpool agrees fee with Al Ettifaq for Jordan Henderson

Al Ettifaq and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson are said to have struck an agreement on a transfer fee.

The Saudi Pro League club has expressed interest in signing the England international, who joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011.

Steven Gerrard, the new manager of Al Ettifaq, is eager to reconcile with his old Liverpool teammate in Saudi Arabia.

Following speculations that Henderson had chosen against moving, it was revealed that the experienced midfielder had verbally agreed to a lucrative agreement with Al Ettifaq.

Liverpool, on the other hand, swore they would not allow Henderson depart on a cheap contract as they braced themselves for an offer.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Al Ettifaq and Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle on a deal for Henderson.

The Saudi Arabian club will pay a cost of £12 million plus add-ons for the 33-year-old, who is scheduled to sign a three-year contract with Al Ettifaq.

Before Henderson's departure from Liverpool can be formally announced, the two clubs must finalize the necessary paperwork.

Henderson is poised to leave the club after 492 competitive appearances, scoring 33 goals and providing 61 assists.

He has won eight trophies during his time at Anfield, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Henderson is not the only Liverpool midfielder on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia, with Fabinho set to join Al-Ittihad, led by Nuno Espirito Santo, a former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager.

The Brazil international has already agreed personal terms and is on the verge of joining Al-Ittihad for £40 million.

However, despite Al-Hilal's interest, the Merseyside club have stated that they will not sell Colombian attacker Luis Diaz.

Now would be the perfect time to use the money from all these player sales and buy some new exciting and bit experienced midfielders.
