Tennis: Halep beats Wang in straight sets to reach Miami Open semi-finals

The second-seed Simona Halep of Romania recovered from a 5-1 deficit in the second set to reach the Miami Open semi-finals with a straight-sets victory 6-4, 7-5 over China's Wang Qiang. Halep took the first set by 6-4 with both players exchanging a total of five breaks. Into the second set, Qiang broke Halep three times to take a 5-1 lead, however, the former world number one, who saved three set points in the tenth game, fought back her way to win the match with her first match point after one hour and 39 minutes. Halep, who will regain the world number one if she reaches the final in Miami, will meet either fifth-seed Karolina Pliskova or 19-year-old Marketa Vondrousova in the Miami Open semi-finals.
