Tennis: Goerges eases past Tomljanovic in the first round of the Qatar Open

The ninth seed Julia Goerges of Germany eased past qualifier Ajla Tomljanovic of Austria 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Qatar Open. The German, ranked 16th in the world, broke in the third and fifth games of both sets to secure victory in one hour and 18 minutes on court. Goerges, who reached last year's quarter-finals in Qatar, now faces world number 52 Alison Riske of the USA in round two.
