The fairytale week in the career of Serbia's Dusan Lajovic continued when he beat Daniil Medvedev of Russia to reach the Monte Carlo Masters final on Saturday. The world number 48 had never been to a Masters semi-final before, but this didn't matter as he beat Medvedev, conqueror of Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals, 7-5, 6-1. Medvedev must have been wondering what happened after squandering a 5-1 lead in the first set. Lajovic won ten games in a row as he opened up a 4-0 lead in the second set on route to victory. Lajovic will play either 11-times champion Rafael Nadal or Italian Fabio Fognini in the Sunday's final.
