Henk Lategan's Dakar Rally came to an end on Thursday's fifth stage - a bad crash leaving the South African with a broken collarbone - and meaning a swift return to Riyadh, and a berth in hospital. Giniel de Villiers and partner Alex Haro Bravo won the stage in the autos classification, the Toyota Gazoo Racing duo covering the 662 kilometres to Al-Qaisumah in a time of five hours nine minutes and 25 seconds - 58 seconds ahead of Brian Baragwanath and Taye Perry. Stephane Peterhansel and Edouard Boulanger still lead the way from and Nasser al-Attiyah and Mathieu Baumel in the overall standings. A disappointing sixth place on the day for Xavier de Soultrait in the bikes category cost him top spot overall - even Jose Florimo managed to dust himself off to finish second. A blistering run from Kevin Benavides took the Argentine Honda rider to the head of the leaderboard.
