Stephane Peterhansel kept his lead in the Dakar Rally, despite needing to repair a puncture in Tuesday's Stage 3 that started and finished in Wadi Ad-Dawasir. The X-Raid Mini JCW Team driver still managed to finish third, behind Nasser Al-Attiyah in first and Henk Lategan in second. Peterhansel now holds 05:09 minutes lead over Al-Attiyah in the overall standings. Carlos Sainz lost precious time after going off course and dropped from second to fourth. In the bike classification, Toby Price won his second stage of this year's rally, with Kevin Benavides in second and Matthias Walkner taking third. Skyler Howes moved to the top of the standings after finishing fourth. Wednesday's (6th January) fourth stage is from Wadi Ad-Dawasir to Riyadh.
