Football News: Manchester United 'the favourites to sign Ansu Fati this summer

If Barcelona decides to sell Ansu Fati during the summer transfer window, Man United will allegedly be first in line. Due to his struggles securing regular starts during the 2022-23 season, the 20-year-old is linked with a move away from Camp Nou.

This season, Fati has been a regular for his Catalan club, appearing on 38 times in all competitions. However, the forward has only managed six goals and three assists.

Meanwhile, the Spain international has only played nine La Liga games this season. As head coach Xavi frequently prefers other options in the final third of the pitch.

Fati has four years remaining on his contract at Barcelona, with the option of another two. But there have been reports that he could be on the move this summer.

Fati was once regarded as one of the best young talents in the world, making his Catalan debut in 2019, and he has already appeared on 96 occasions for the club, scoring 25 goals and recording nine assists.

However, the forward missed 47 club matches between November 2020 and September 2021 due to a severe knee injury, and he has since been missing with two separate hamstring problems, with the fitness issues hampering his growth.

Man United are long-time admirers of Fati, and Barcelona may be forced to make a big sale this summer due to financial constraints, particularly if they want to re-sign Lionel Messi.

The 20-time English champions are expected to spend significantly this summer on a new center-forward, with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane being the club's top target.

However, another attacker could enter the market in the near future, as Wout Weghorst is only on loan from Burnley, and Anthony Martial could be moved due to his ongoing fitness issues in 2022-23.
