Football News : Liverpool’s young prodigy Harvey Elliott to be offered a new contract

Harvey Elliott, a midfielder for Liverpool, is expected to receive a new and improved deal at Anfield. Following his transfer from Fulham to the club's youth divisions in 2019, the 19-year-old has now made 22 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's team.

During that time, Elliott has accumulated one goal and two assists so far, although his 2021-22 season was cut short by a severe ankle injury he suffered against Leeds United.

Elliott bounced back to make 11 appearances despite his injury, and in 42 games while on loan with Blackburn Rovers in 2020-2021, he recorded 7 goals and 11 assists. The teenager only extended his contract at Anfield last year through the summer of 2026, but according to the Daily Mail, he will shortly accept fresh and better terms.

According to the article, Elliott may anticipate a wage increase with his new terms in light of his impressive improvement. Liverpool sees him as an option for investment in long run and the Reds are willing to secure his long-term future.

The England Under-21 international played 39 minutes against his previous club on Saturday in the opening 2-2 Premier League tie. He was transferred to Merseyside for a £1.5 million price three years ago.

Meanwhile, with Thiago Alcantara expected to miss at least a month of play with a hamstring injury, Elliott may soon find himself in the spotlight due to Liverpool's midfield injury troubles.
