Football News : 3 signings Man United could complete before the transfer window closes

Manchester United';s 2022-23 Premier League season began last weekend with a 2-1 home loss to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Newest hires Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, and Tyrell Malacia made their debuts in the first game of the season, although Erik ten Hag's tenure as head coach got off to a rough start.

Ten Hag will be expected to contend for a return to the top four coming season, but given the number of players who have left this summer, it is obvious that the club needs more additions before the transfer market closes.

The previous few days have seen a lot of conjecture about Adrien Rabiot's future, with reports claiming that Man United and Juventus had reached an agreement on a £15 million transfer for the midfielder.

The French international's agency and the Red Devils are reportedly in talks right now, and the English superpowers are hoping to sign the 27-year-old soon.

Although Rabiot has been a regular since joining the Old Lady in 2019, including last season, when he made 45 appearances across all competitions, it has been claimed that he is no longer in Juventus' plans.

For a while, Antony of Ajax appeared to be Man United's first choice for a wide forward, but the Brazilian international now appears to be priced out of a summer transfer.

The Red Devils are said to have turned their focus to Cody Gakpo as a result, who scored 21 goals and recorded 15 assists in 47 games across all competitions for his Dutch club last season.

The international from the Netherlands has had a fantastic start to the 2022-23 campaign, scoring three goals and dishing out two assists in four appearances. There have been rumours that he might be bought for around £35 million, depending on if PSV advances to the Champions League group stage.

Gakpo has made 138 appearances for his Dutch side across all competitions, scoring 45 goals and dishing out 35 assists in the process. He would be a welcome addition to an offence that is lacking in both quantity and quality.

Man United allegedly isn't giving up on a deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong despite appearing to lag Chelsea in the race for his services. The Red Devils have been after the Netherlands international since the end of May

And thusare rumoured to have come to terms on a transfer deal with Barcelona, but they have not yet been able to persuade the midfielder to move to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-Catalan old's team is also rumoured to owe him £17m in deferred wages, which complicates a summer transfer even further.

Although it now appears impossible for the Red Devils to get De Jong, there is still a chance that he could sign with the team before the transfer window closes.

The Dutchman would undoubtedly improve the level of play in the centre of the field, and the 20-time English champions would make a statement by signing him. However, the former Ajax prodigy is thought to be extremely concerned about their inability to qualify for the 2022-23 Champions League.
