Tennis: Roberto Carballes Baena beats Nicolas Jarry 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 in Rio Open first round

World number 114 Roberto Carballes Baena beat eighth seed Nicolas Jarry 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (8-6) in a first round shock at the Rio Open. After a straight forward first set from Roberto Carballes Baena, Chile's Jarry came back firing in the second. Forcing it to a tie-break, the world number 47 sealed the set with a cool backhand for 7-6 (7-5). It was another close contest in the third set with both players being broken twice and a second tie-break was required. The 23-year-old Jarry went 3-0 up in the decider and then 6-3, but Spain's Carballes Baena fought back to take the tie-break 8-6 and the victory. The 25-year-old will next face qualifier Hugo Dellien in the second round.
