Football: Uzbekistan thrash Turkmenistan 4-0 to secure spot in next phase

Uzbekistan confirmed their spot in the AFC Asian Cup Round of 16 after recording a 4-0 win against Turkmenistan in Group F. Hector Cuper's side opened the scoring through Javokhir Sidikov, before Eldor Shomurodov doubled the lead in the 24th minute. Five minutes before the break, Jaloliddin Masharipov let fly a half-volley to make it 3-0. Masharipov's pass found Shomurodov who scored his second of the night two minutes later. Altymyrat Annadurdyyev came close for Turkmenistan midway through the second half, but his free-kick was narrowly wide. Uzbekistan held on to 4-0 win to top Group F - the clash against Japan on Thursday will determine who wins the group.
