Manchester United are reportedly considering a summer bid for Kylian Mbappe if Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani completes the club's ownership.
Sheikh Jassim is thought to have moved into first place in the race to buy Manchester United from the Glazers, perhaps outbidding Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
A preferred bidder for the club is expected to be identified soon, and Sheikh Jassim's recent offer is thought to have put him ahead of Ratcliffe on the list.
According to El Pais, if the takeover occurs, the chairman of Qatar Investment Bank intends to try to lure Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain to Old Trafford.
According to the report, Sheikh Jassim has privately stated that Mbappe would be his top objective in his first transfer window as the club's owner, and the France international is aware that a move to Manchester United in the present market might open up.
Mbappe handed a letter to PSG's owners on Monday evening, stating that he will not be signing a one-year contract extension next summer.
As a result, the 24-year-old's current contract with PSG will expire next June, and the club is reportedly prepared to sell him this summer if he does not agree to a new agreement.
Mbappe has ruled out a summer departure from the French champions, but the club is reportedly unwilling to allow him leave on a free transfer next year due to his enormous value.
Last year, Real Madrid were widely anticipated to sign the attacker on a free transfer, but he ultimately chose to sign a new contract in Paris.
Los Blancos are heavily associated with Mbappe, but it has to be seen whether the club will be able to commit to another big-money move this summer, given the recent arrival of Jude Bellingham.
In terms of numbers, the attacker had a fantastic season for PSG, scoring 41 goals and registering 10 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
However, the Paris club failed to qualify for the Champions League once more, and there will be significant changes at the club this summer, with Lionel Messi going on a free transfer.
Man United is one of only a few clubs that can afford to sign Mbappe, and Sheikh Jassim is expected to make significant finances available to head coach Erik ten Hag if a takeover is completed this summer.
Mbappe has been with PSG since 2017, firstly on loan from Monaco, and has played 260 times for the club, scoring 212 goals and registering 98 assists.
