Manchester United are allegedly close to signing Axel Disasi from Monaco.
With Harry Maguire's future unknown, the Red Devils are expected to improve their backline this summer.
Erik ten Hag has opted to play Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, and Luke Shaw at center-back instead of the England international.
Despite holding a contract until the age of 25, Maguire could leave Manchester United this summer in search of regular playing time, with Tottenham Hotspur said to be interested.
With Maguire on his way out, Manchester United appear to have discovered a potential replacement for the England international.
According to L'Equipe, the Red Devils are nearing an agreement with Ligue 1 club Monaco to recruit Disasi.
Monaco are seeking a fee of between €40 million (£34.4 million) and €50 million (£43 million) for a player under contract until the summer of 2025.
According to the source, the two teams have yet to hold formal talks for the transfer to take place.
However, the asking price is not thought to be an issue for the 20-time English champions.
Monaco have been preparing for Disasi's exit for several months, and he may not be the only player to go this summer.
The Ligue 1 team may possibly sell Youssouf Fofana to balance their budget after finishing sixth and missing out on European football.
The France international was a regular for Monaco in the 2022-23 season, starting 37 of the club's 38 league games.
Disasi has made 129 competitive appearances for the club in three years, contributing 12 goals and four assists.
Didier Deschamps' France squad has included Disasi for the forthcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece.
Disasi's inclusion will defiantly give more dept to Ten Hag at the back and also he could be the perfect replacement for Harry Maguire.
