Inter Miami has revealed that Lionel Messi will join the club on a free transfer.
Messi's future has been the subject of much conjecture for some time, and it has only gotten worse since Paris Saint-Germain announced his departure.
Barcelona were keen to re-sign Messi, but Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal reportedly made a hefty bid.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Argentine confirmed his contract with Inter Miami in an interview with Mundo Deportivo and Sport.
Inter Miami has now confirmed the signing of the 35-year-old via their social media outlets, following the interview.
Messi said:
"I made the decision to go to Miami. I still haven't closed it 100% and there are some things missing, but well, we decided to continue the journey there."
The MLS franchise announced his arrival with a 32-second video that alluded to interest from Barcelona and Al-Hilal.
Inter Miami's controlling owner, Jorge Mas, also tweeted a photo of a figure wearing the club's shirt with the words 'Messi 10' on the back.
When his contract with PSG expires at the end of this month, the Argentina international is anticipated to officially sign with the MLS team.
Messi is ready to play club football outside of Europe for the first time in his career, after making 778 and 75 appearances for Barcelona and PSG, respectively.
Messi is expected to make his Inter Miami debut against Mexican side Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup on July 21.
Following the recent dismissal of Phil Neville, the franchise, which is part-owned by David Beckham, is looking for a new manager.
Inter Miami is at the bottom of the Eastern Conference after scoring just 15 points in their first 16 games.
