Football News : Euro champions Italy thumps Hungary to reach Nations League final

With a 2-0 victory over Hungary this evening in Budapest, Italy has qualified for the UEFA Nations League semi-finals. After Hungary defeated Germany in Leipzig the previous time out to take a two-point lead before the final group match,

Roberto Mancini's team knew that only a victory would be sufficient to overtake their hosts at the top of League A Group 3. Giacomo Raspadori and Federico Dimarco's goals gave the Azzurri the victory, which allowed them to surpass Hungary for first place at the conclusion of a brilliant season for the Magyars.

The final four of the Nations League, which will take place in June, will also include Croatia and the Netherlands, who both failed to qualify for this winter's World Cup.

On Tuesday, the semi-final bracket will be announced, with Portugal and Spain competing for the final Braga berth. The second League A Group 3 match this evening between England and Germany ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw at Wembley despite being a deadlock.

All of the goals were scored in the second half, when England finally scored after a long goalless streak, coming back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 in just 11 minutes before a Nick Pope error allowed Germany to tie the score.

Other than that, Romania was demoted from Group B3 after defeating Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1.

Although Edward Iordanescu's team still had a chance to win the tournament even if they defeated Bosnia, other outcomes had to favour them as well.

Despite an Edin Dzeko goal for Bosnia, goals from Dennis Man, George Puscas (2), and Andrei Ratiu ensured that Romania kept up their half of the agreement. However, Finland's 2-0 victory away to Montenegro with 10 men meant that it was insufficient.

Prior to the game's beginning, the fates of the other teams-Georgia to League B and Estonia to League D-had already been determined. Bosnia had already been promoted from League B.
