Fenerbahce survived a late scare and claimed a much-needed 84-77 Euroleague victory over Olympiacos in Istanbul on Wednesday night. The hosts opened up a 13-point advantage in the third quarter, but Sasha Vezenkov hit a flurry of three-pointers for Olympiacos to get within a point at 75-74 with two minutes left. However, Jan Vesely took control with some big plays to seal the win, capping a fine all-round performance with 17 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Nando De Colo had 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in support, with Dyshawn Pierre, Melih Mahmutoglu and Danilo Barthel all reaching double figures. Vezenkov top-scored for Olympiacos with 17 points, with Livio Jean-Charles, Aaron Harrison and Vassilis Spanoulis also in double digits, but their efforts came to nothing in the end. Fenerbahce stopped a three-game losing run to improve to 6-10, while Olympiacos now go into the negative at 7-8.
