Basketball: Record-breaking Zenit thump Crvena Zvezda 98-69

Zenit St. Petersburg put last Friday's heavy defeat at CSKA behind them and strengthened their play-off prospects with a thumping 98-69 victory over Crvena Zvezda at the Sibur Arena on Tuesday. The 29-point winning margin was easily the best recorded by Zenit in the Euroleague and the points total, along with 16 three-pointers, were also club records in the competition. KC Rivers led the way with 7 out of 8 three-point shooting in a game-high 23 points, backed by 17 from Kevin Pangos, 13 from Billy Baron and 12 from Arturas Gudaitis. Johnny O'Bryant (13 points) and Dejan Davidovac (10) offered some resistance for Zvezda, but they droped to 5-11, while Zenit improveed to 9-5 and move up to fifth place in the standings.
