Tennis: Halep survives tough test against Kozlova in the third round at Indian Wells

Second seed Simona Halep battled past Kateryna Kozlova 7-6, 7-5 at Indian Wells on Sunday. The pair had two breaks each in the first set, and in the ensuing tie-break the Romanian world number two came out on top. The Ukranian broke first in the second, but Halep stood her ground and broke back immediately, and by the ninth game the match went back with serve after Kozlova's third break. Kozlova provided Halep with a tough test, but fatigue must have caught up her after the ninth game as the Romanian broke in the 12th game to win the match with backhand down the line. Next up for Halep will be the winner between Marketa Vondrousova and Jelena Ostapenko.
