Cricket News: Australia announce 17-member squad for Test series vs India

Cricket Australia have announced a 17-member Australian squad for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. Tim Paine will lead the Australian test side. The pace attack comprises Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and James Pattinson. Steve Smith and David Warner are also a part of the test squad to bolster the batting line-up. These two missed out last time around because of a one year ban they faced due to ball-tampering. Matthew Wade and Marnus Labuschagne will also add depth to the batting line-up. Highly-rated youngsters Will Pucovski and Cameron Green are also included in an expanded 17-man Test squad. Both have been hammering on the door this season impressing in the domestic Sheffield Shield. Sean Abbott, Mitchell Swepson and Michael Neser are other players who have found a place in the squad and could be in line for a Test debut when the four-Test series begins on December 17 in Adelaide. Cricket Australia have also chosen a 19-player Australia 'A' squad to play India 'A' and India in tour matches at Drummoyne Oval and the Sydney Cricket Ground.
