Daniil Medvedev reached the final of the Barcelona Open after beating twice champion Kei Nishikori. Medvedev reached his first clay-court final with a thrilling 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 triumph battling from a break down in the decider to eliminate the world number seven after two hours 25 minutes. He will face 11-time champion Rafael Nadal or Dominic Thiem for the trophy. Before last week's Monte Carlo Masters, the Russian had two tour-level wins on the surface, but after reaching the semi-finals in Monaco and reaching the Barcelona final with the loss of only two sets, the 23-year-old has eight clay-court wins this year alone (8-1).
