Powersportz Premier League team of the week: Matchday 6

The Premier League's thrilling and extremely contentious weekend of play is now gone. Goal-laden performances and VAR drama dominated the news.

In a 3-1 loss to Manchester United, league-leading Arsenal had their perfect record end, although they still lead Manchester City in the standings after the latter were held to a 1-1 tie by Aston Villa.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Fulham 2-1 in their London derby to maintain third place, while the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton ended in a thrilling 0-0 draw.

In one of the many controversial VAR decisions, Chelsea recovered from behind to defeat West Ham United 2-1,and Brighton & Hove Albion thrashed a helpless Leicester City team 5-2.

Brentford also defeated Leeds United by the same score of 7, however neither Newcastle United nor Crystal Palace could find the back of the net at St James' Park. Thus, the match between The Magpies and The Bees ended in a 0-0 draw, while Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Southampton 1-0.

And Bournemouth defeated fellow newly promoted team Nottingham Forest 3-2 after coming from two goals down.

Defence

There were many excellent saves made during the weekend, but Jordan Pickford of Everton would have been the worst choice. The England goalkeeper kept Liverpool at bay with eight outstanding stops, including a brilliant tip onto the crossbar from Darwin Nunez's effort at Goodison.

The question of how Newcastle's match with Palace finished scoreless was on everyone's mind at St. James' but Kieran Trippier, who made six crucial passes and won all four of his ground duels during an assured display, did not give up without a fight.

This week, a dependable Eagles defender joins our four-man backline after Palace center-back Joachim Andersen stopped Newcastle with an incredible 17 clearances, three interceptions, and two blocks.

Conor Coady and James Tarkowski, who combined for eight clearances, four blocks, and three interceptions, may develop into a successful pairing.

Last but not least, Ben Chilwell's 19 minutes of action against West Ham helped Chelsea win.

Midfield

On Saturday night, Man City may have only left Villa Park with a single point, but Kevin De Bruyne once again shown his creative genius by assisting Erling Braut Haaland with a wonderful cross to the back stick.

The Bournemouth comeback was started by a truly magnificent effort from Philip Billing, who took a touch before launching a 30-yard rocket past Dean Henderson.

Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton & Hove Albion might have challenged Billing for the weekend's top goal, but the Argentine did not let his disallowed thunderbolt against Leicester make him unhappy.

Forward

At City Ground, Billing started Bournemouth's comeback, and on Saturday, a motivated Dominic Solanke would assist the Cherries in making that stunning reversal.

Three outstanding plays from Manchester United were all it took to hand Arsenal its first defeat of the season. A rejuvenated Marcus Rashford played a part in all three, setting up Antony for his first Red Devils goal and then scoring twice more as the Gunners' defence and midfield were exposed.

Ivan Toney, the talisman for Brentford, scored three spectacular goals in the crushing of Leeds, including a self-assured penalty, a postage stamp free kick, and a 25-yard chip into an empty net with IllanMeslier in no man's land. This led to an all-English attacking team this weekend.
