Motorsport: Jenson Button test drives electric SUV ahead of E-Extreme series

Former F1 world champion Jenson Button recently test drove an electric SUV in Wales in preparation for the inaugural Extreme-E championship, which gets underway in April. The series will utilise the power and influence of sport to highlight the impact of climate change, whilst promoting the adoption of electric vehicles to help protect the planet. The 2021 Extreme-E championship will get underway in Saudi Arabia, with subsequent rounds to follow in Senegal, Greenland, Brazil and Argentina. Button, who won the 2009 F1 drivers' championship title with Brawn GP, was surprised by the amount of power his electric SUV generated: "First of all they (the engineers) put me out there at 60 per cent power and I thought: 'Oh, it's quite low on power.' And then we went straight to a hundred per cent after a couple of laps: 'Ooh, Speedy! This thing's quick!'"
