Football News : Manchester United 'weighing up move for Goncalo Ramos'

According to reports, Manchester United is considering making a move for Goncalo Ramos, a forward for Benfica. United spent the summer transfer window aggressively associated with a wide range of players, who may play down the middle of their attack amid rumours about Cristiano Ronaldo's future.

Erik ten Hag, the head coach, decided against signing a fresh, established front man and instead spent somewhere in the neighbourhood of £82 million on Ajax winger Antony.

Ten Hag has plenty of options for this season with Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial all being options for the near future. Ramos is reportedly among Ten Hag's top choices as he considers his options for upcoming seasons, according to The Sun.

According to the rumour, United has already gotten in touch with the under-21 international from Portugal, who is presently having the best season of his career. The 21-year-old has been utilised down the centre of the Benfica attack by recently recruited manager Roger Schmidt since Darwin Nunez left for Liverpool.

Ramos has produced eight goals and five assists in 12 games across all competitions, with Benfica winning each of those games.

Ramos has scored four goals in Portugal's top division so far this year, but his hat-trick in the first leg of their Champions League match against FC Midtjylland was one of his most memorable contributions.

Ramos' efforts have come after he was frequently mentioned in connection with a transfer to a more powerful team during the summer transfer window.

Southampton supposedly made a proposal for the midfielder, but Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers were previously thought to be the frontrunners for his signature.

The standard was quickly increased, though, with reports that Paris Saint-Germain was interested in the young player and that Newcastle United was also mulling a big offer before they bought Alexander Isak for a club-record amount.

Ramos' contract expires in 2025-26, therefore Benfica is still in a good position to insist on getting what they think Ramos is worth in future transfer windows.

Ramos has not yet played for Portugal at the senior level and has not been chosen for their next UEFA Nations League matches, but United is reportedly unwilling to pay more than £25 million for him.
