Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly willing to offload at least five players during the summer transfer window. Before the 2023-24 season, the Red Devils are likely to add a new striker, a central midfielder, and possibly a center-back.
But, more players are set to leave than arrive at Old Trafford this summer. Ten Hag is looking to unload some members of his Man United side who are not frequently used by him.
Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Brandon Williams, Alex Telles, and Eric Bailly will all be placed on the transfer list. According to the Manchester Evening News, all the above mentioned 5 players are set to depart this summer.
Maguire is still Man United's captain, although he has lost his starting spot since the arrival of Lisandro Martinez last summer. Maguire, who has only made five PL starts this season, may opt to move elsewhere in order to get consistent playing time.
Martial has six goals and two assists in 15 games this season, but injury has been a continuous worry throughout the season.
The Frenchman is thought to be a favourite of Manchester United co-owner Joel Glazer, who is eager to see if Martial can reach his full potential at the club.
With the Glazers ready to sell the club, the 20-time English champions may now accept bids for the 27-year-old.
Williams has only appeared once this season and is not in Ten Hag's plans, while Telles is also expected to go when he returns from his loan term with Sevilla.
Bailly is currently on loan at Marseille and will join the French club permanently if he makes a specific amount of games to trigger an obligation to buy.
Even if he returns to Old Trafford in the summer, the Ivory Coast international will be placed on the transfer list.
Dean Henderson, who is now on loan at Nottingham Forest, might potentially be on his way out, while Jadon Sancho's future is questionable amid rumours that Ten Hag is growing disillusioned with the winger.
Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellistri are likely to be loaned out to get valuable experience and playing time.
