Football News: Man United to pay £100million for Tottenham’s Harry Kane

Manchester United are allegedly expecting to spend £100 million upfront to get Tottenham's Harry Kane this summer. The England international has emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils.

Moreover, Ten Hag's team are looking to recruit a high-profile striker ahead of the 2023-24 season. Kane is nearing the end of his current contract and intends to discuss his future with the club at the end of the season.

The Englishman, who is yet to win a major trophy in his career, will finish another season without a trophy. As Tottenham were eliminated from the FA Cup and Champions League earlier this month.

According to The Times, Manchester United believes Tottenham would want a £100 million up-front. However, it is yet not known if they were to consider selling their most valued asset.

Transfer fees are often paid in installments by clubs, and Tottenham's position is thought to be intended to deter possible bidders. Spurs are secretly optimistic that their asking price will let them keep Kane for another season.

Nevertheless, according to a new source, Manchester United are willing to make the Englishman the most expensive British player of all time, which would need the Red Devils to outbid Manchester City for Jack Grealish in 2021.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also interested, with the latter still looking for a successor for Robert Lewandowski.

A move abroad would jeopardise Kane's hopes of breaking Alan Shearer's Premier League goal record of 260, hence the 29-year-old is keen to stay in England.

Although Spurs face the prospect of Kane leaving on a free transfer in 2024, they are content for him to complete the final year of his present contract.

Conte stated ahead of Saturday's 3-3 draw with Southampton that he is convinced Kane will stay if the club finishes in the top four.

Furthermore, following Saturday's heated post-match press conference, in which he launched a verbal attack on the Tottenham squad, the Italian could be fired in the coming days.

Spurs are fourth, but they have played two more games than fifth-placed Newcastle United, who are only two points below them.

Kane has 23 goals in 39 appearances for Tottenham this season, and he is now training with the England group ahead of Thursday's Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy.
