Football News: Bayern Munich agrees deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane

According to reports, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur have finally agreed on a fee for England captain Harry Kane.

The Bundesliga winners have been pursuing a deal for the 30-year-old all summer but have been continually turned down by Daniel Levy.

Bayern had already had two bids rejected before putting a third bid costing a reputed £86 million on hold, which was also rejected by Tottenham, but Thomas Tuchel's team refused to give up.

According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich's approach has been approved by Tottenham, who have granted their approval for Kane to join the German giants in a deal for more than €100 million (£86.4 million).

Tottenham allegedly accepted Bayern's fourth offer on Wednesday, but Kane is yet to sign personal terms with Tuchel's team, and the decision now rests with him.

It has previously been stated that the England captain will jump at the chance to join Bayern, where he believes he will be able to break his trophy drought and contend for the Champions League crown.

Bayern Munich have reportedly provided housing for Kane and his family in order to make his transition to life in Germany as simple as possible, and prior rumours suggested that the striker may be in line for a £480,000-a-week deal in Bavaria.

According to The Athletic, Kane has recently been leaning towards sticking at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after being impressed with Ange Postecoglou's early influence, but it remains to be seen how he will react to Bayern's approved bid.

Despite Spurs' desire to lock him down to a new contract, the 30-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2023-24 season and has showed no readiness to negotiate an extension while the transfer window is open.

As a result, Tottenham have reluctantly held negotiations about selling the striker this summer, though it has been stated that the striker would prefer to stay if no agreement could be struck by Tottenham's Premier League opening against Brentford on Sunday.

Bayern are thus in a race against time to negotiate personal terms with Kane, who, if a deal is completed, will become the Bundesliga champions' most expensive signing of all time.

Tuchel's team went to the front of the queue for Kane when Manchester United dropped their interest, as Levy had no intention of allowing his star scorer depart for a direct competitor, having already rejected Manchester City's advances in 2021.

Paris Saint-Germain were said to be interested in signing the Three Lions captain as well, but Kane has no interest in moving to Ligue 1 at this stage of his career, and he is understood to be chasing Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League goal record of 260.

The 30-year-old scored another 30 top-flight goals in the 2022-23 season, but with Spurs finishing eighth, he would miss out on European football for the first time with the Lilywhites if he stays for the 2023-24 season.

Despite this, Kane has been a key player for Spurs in preseason, scoring four goals in a 5-1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk last weekend while wearing the captain's armband.
