South American soccer body CONMEBOL said Friday its Copa Libertadores tournament will restart on September 15, more than six months after it was suspended. South America is one of the epicenters of the COVID-19 pandemic. Brazil alone has counted more than 70,000 fatalities due to the virus. The soccer body said teams that need to play out of their hometowns because of the pandemic will have enough time to do so. The presence of fans will depend on local authorities, according to CONMEBOL's health protocols.
