Al Sadd sealed their first Qatar Stars League title in six seasons after hammering visitors Al Ahli 7-2 on Thursday - Baghdad Bounedjah claiming a hat-trick. Bounedjah opened the scoring in the sixth minute, converting a penalty he had won, and Hassan Al Heidos doubled the lead midway through the first half from a Xavi Hernandez pass. Al Sadd went ahead 3-0 in first-half stoppage time through Bounedjah and Akram Afif further extended the lead seven minutes into the second half. Captain Nigel de Jong and Abdulrasheed Umaru pulled goals back for Al Ahli, either side of Al Heidos' second of the game before Bounedjah completed his hat-trick with ten minutes to go. Jung Woo-young would seal the 7-2 win with a stoppage-time free kick and Al Sadd were crowned Qatari champions for a record 14th time.
