Cricket News: Selector, Umpires caught on camera taking money

Bihar cricket has found itself in the midst of a controversy again after a sting operation unmasked another episode of corruption in Indian cricket. A sting operation carried out by a leading news channel has exposed that cricketers from Bihar and Jharkhand have been found to be involved in corruption alongwith the members of the Bihar Cricket association. The sting operation revealed that selectors and other individuals of Bihar and Jharkhand Cricket associations can have an impact on the choice manner on being bribed a sum of as much less as Rs 50,000 to as a whole lot as Rs one crore. Neeraj Kumar, the selector in BCA, was caught on record saying that if Rs 75 lakh is paid to him, he can make any cricketer play at the Ranji Trophy level. The same report revealed that two cricketers from Delhi made forged resident certificates which described them as the citizens of Bihar. DP Tripathi, an umpire with BCA, was also caught on camera taking money to select a woman cricketer in one of Bihar's district team. The corruption charges have emerged in Jharkhand cricket as well. The same sting operation exposed that JCA members can make anyone play in the U-16 and U-19 teams if a decent amount is paid to them. Bihar, who made a return to domestic cricket after a gap of nearly 18 years, has been constantly in news for all the wrong reasons first it was picking an active player as a selector. Questions were also raised when Prgyan Ojha was named the captain as he is not a resident of Bihar and now corruption charges have surfaced.
