Cricket News: Mumbai beat Delhi by 5 wickets to win 5th IPL title

Mumbai beat Delhi by 5 wickets in the final of IPL 2020 in Dubai to stamp their authority by clinching their 5th IPL title and for the first time they have clinched consecutive crowns. This is also Rohit Sharma's 6th IPL title, one for Hyderabad as a player under Adam Gilchrist's captaincy and five for Mumbai as a captain. Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat first but Delhi got off to a poor start losing Marcus Stoinis, Ajinkya Rahane and in-form Shikhar Dhawan cheaply leaving tottering Delhi at 22/3. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant then brought some sanity to the proceedings with a crucial 96-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 65 and Rishabh Pant's 56 helped his side post a respectable 156/6 wickets in the given 20 overs. Trent Boult was brilliant with the ball once again as he picked up 3 wickets. Chasing 157-run target, Mumbai got off to a decent start as Quinton de Kock and skipper Rohit Sharma put on 45 runs in the first four overs. After the fall of first wicket Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma struck another 45 runs for the second wicket and took Mumbai closer to the target. Rohit Sharma played a captain's knock scoring 68 off 50 balls as Mumbai comfortably chased the target in 18.4 overs. Punjab captain KL Rahul finished as leading run-scorer of IPL 2020 with 670 runs to his name in 14 matches while Kagiso Rabada ended IPL 2020 as leading wicket-taker with 30 wickets in 17 matches.
