In what comes as a big blow to three time champions Chennai Super Kings veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh decides to pull out of Indian Premier League 2020 due to personal reasons. Harbhajan conveyed his message to the Chennai Super Kings. He became the second cricketer from the CSK camp to withdraw his name from this year's IPL citing personal reasons. While Raina had returned home after travelling with the team to the UAE, Harbhajan stayed back in India due to some personal reasons. It is expected that the opening encounter of the tournament could be held between champions Mumbai Indians and 2019 runners up Chennai Super Kings. However, things went haywire with 13 members of the CSK camp, including two players, turned positive for COVID-19. There was speculation that CSK might not play the opener.
