Chess News: India, Russia announced joint winners of FIDE Online Chess Olympiad

The recently-concluded FIDE Online Chess Olympiad finished in the most dramatic fashion than it could ever be expected with India and Russia announced as the joint gold medal winners. The story behind how India finished on top spot is spine-chilling as this is the second time when technical glitch became a serious impediment for the Indian players after their qualifying victory against Armenia, which was marred by complaints of server clash. In the final round, two Indian players were declared to have lost on time after an apparent loss of internet connection for them, on which India made an official appeal against the result and after discussing on the matter FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich had made a decision to give gold medals to both teams.
