Tokyo Olympics : India win Olympic medal in hockey after 41 years

Indian men's hockey team beat Germany 5-4 to win a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Simranjeet Singh scored a brace for India, along with Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh also adding their names on the scoresheet. At one stage the 8-time champions were trailing 1-3 but made a terrific comeback by scoring 4 goals on trot and taking a 5-3 lead. The Germans pulled one goal back making it 5-4 but the Indian defence stood tall saving numerous penalty corners and the goal-keeper PR Sreejesh was rock solid under the bar. The win also helped the Indian men's hockey team end their 41-year medal wait at the Olympics. It is a historic medal for India as this is also India's 2nd Olympic medal after the introduction of astro-turf. This medal means that India has taken its medals tally to at least 5 medals in Tokyo. #Tokyo2020 #HockeyMedal #HockeyMatch
