Alexander Zverev came through a nail-biting five-set match 2-6 6-4 7-6 4-6 6-4 against Pierre-Hugues Herbert on Wednesday. Home favourite Herbert took the opener but Zverev fought back to take a 2-1 lead after three gruelling sets. Just as it looked as though all the momentum was with the German, Herbert upped his game to send the contest into a decider. Zverev had the upper hand early in the fifth set, but failed to serve out the match when leading 5-3. However, the sixth seed regained his composure to break straight back and win the epic encounter in just over four hours.
