Tennis News : Sakkari through to round 2 after Bouzkova retires in Montreal

Maria Sakkari advanced to round two at the Montreal Open in Canada on Monday after the Greek number 11 seed's Czech opponent, Marie Bouzkova, retired in the second set. Bouzkova opened up a 3-1 lead in the opener, but Sakkari fought back to win five of the next six games to take it 6-4. Boukova, who had called for a medical time-out at 4-5, dropped serve again at the start of the second set and at 3-1 down, she decided she couldn't continue. Sakkari will face Russia's Veronika Kudermetova or Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan next.
