Pakistan agrees to WC schedule change: Reports

The highly anticipated 2023 Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan has been pushed back to October 14. The contest will take place in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, as it was scheduled in the past.

Furthermore, the ICC has yet to provide the new timetable for the main event.

According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to the schedule change.

Aside from the match against India, Pakistan's match against Sri Lanka has been rescheduled for October 10 instead of October 12.

The game, however, will take place as planned at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The India-Pakistan clash had to be postponed since it clashed with the first day of the Hindu holiday of Navaratri, and police were concerned that they would not be able to provide enough protection on that day.

The ICC recently informed the PCB of the adjustments, according to ESPN Cricinfo, and the Pakistan cricket body agreed.

Contrary to popular belief, BCCI secretary Jay Shah claimed that the modification had nothing to do with the Navaratri celebration.

He stated that several ICC Full Member countries requested changes to the World Cup schedule last week, and that changes would be made as a result.

The alteration in the date of the India-Pakistan match will have an effect on other games and teams, as October 14 is already a double-header, with games between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Chennai and Afghanistan and England in Delhi. The latter match is scheduled for a day early (October 13).

The next One-Day International World Cup will be hosted in India from October 5 to November 19.

The curtain raiser will feature the 2019 World Cup finals England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will begin their campaign against Australia, the five-time World Cup champions, on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
