Cricket News: Jadeja’s sharp response to Kapil Dev's ‘arrogance’ remark

Former India captain Kapil Dev's remark about 'arrogance' elicited a clear answer from India's top all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Notably, the 1983 World Cup-winning skipper was forthright in his assessment of India's devastating defeat in the second ODI against the West Indies.

Dev believes that the players have a 'know-it-all' mentality and that arrogance has set in as a result of the money they make in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, in reaction to Kapil Dev's remarks, Jadeja stated that there was no 'arrogance' inside the team.

"I don't know when he (Kapil Dev) has said this. I don't search these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share their opinion, but I don't think there is any arrogance in this team,"

Jadeja was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

"Everyone is enjoying their cricket and everyone are hardworking. No one has taken anything for granted. They are giving their 100 percent. Such comments generally come when the Indian team lost a match. This is a good bunch of boys; this is a good group. We are representing India and that is our main aim, there is no personal agenda,"

he explained.

"Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything,"

Kapil Dev told in an interview with 'The Week' following India's loss in the second ODI against West Indies.

Notably, following a convincing win in the first ODI, the think tank chose to rest senior cricketers Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma in the second match.

The tactic quickly backfired, as the Men in Blue were defeated by the Windies by six wickets in a low-scoring match.

Team India will attempt to make amends in the series-deciding third ODI on Tuesday, August 1 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. A win in the third ODI will also bring Team India the series. Following the conclusion of the ODI series, the two teams will focus on the five-match T20I series, which will begin on August 3rd.
