Football: Uzbekistan beat Oman 2-1 in AFC Asian Cup Group F opener

Substitute Eldor Shomurodov struck the winner for Uzbekistan just two minutes after his introduction. Eldor’s goal secured a 2-1 win over Oman in their AFC Asian Cup Group F opener. Oman started aggressively as they tested Uzbek goalkeeper Ignatiy Nesterov a couple of times. But Shanghai SIPG star and Uzbekistan captain curled a free-kick past Faiyz Al Rusheidi to give his side a first-half lead. Oman found the equaliser in the 72nd minute after substitute Muhsen Al Ghassani scored past Uzbekistan shot-stopper. Uzbekistan's substitute Shomurodov scored the winner in stoppage time.
