Football: Urawa Reds beat Buriram United 3-0 in AFC Champions League

Daiki Hashioka struck twice in the second half as Urawa Reds of Japan opened their Asian Champions League campaign with a 3-0 thrashing of Buriram United of Thailand in Saitama, Japan. Urawa Reds, champions in 2017, started brightly and came close after just 10 minutes when Yosuke Kashiwagi's cross found Andrew Nabbout unmarked in the box, but the Australian striker couldn't keep his effort down. Five minutes after the break, Urawa Reds took the lead - defender Tomoaki Makino sneaking in a header from a corner. The Reds then took a firm grip of the match. Hashioka scored his first on 75 minutes when he smashed home the rebound after a Kazuki Nagasawa effort from the edge of the area was blocked by Siwarak Tedsungnoensave. Hashioka secured his brace two miutes before the final whistle after he was found unmarked at the back post by a neat cross from substitute Koya Yuruki.
