Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney this summer.
Pep Guardiola's squad is packed with quality and has managed to keep up with the unrelenting quantity of matches they have played this season.
However, the left-back position has emerged as a source of concern as a result of the departures of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo in the last two transfer windows.
While the latter may return to the squad after a loan spell with Bayern Munich, Guardiola is dissatisfied with his current alternatives.
Nathan Ake has performed admirably when called upon, while Sergio Gomez risks a loan stint somewhere in 2023-24 after not playing more than an hour in a single match since November.
Guardiola supposedly considered a move for Chelsea's Ben Chilwell before the England international agreed to a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
According to Football Transfers, the Spaniard could instead sanction a transfer for Tierney this summer.
Since joining the Emirates Stadium in 2019, the 25-year-old has made 90 starts and 28 substitute appearances in all competitions.
This season, the former Celtic man has only made five Premier League starts, with a further 17 appearances coming off the substitutes' bench.
Nonetheless, due to the acquisition of Zinchenko from Manchester City, the Scotland international is now a bit-part player for the Gunners.
Meanwhile, Tierney, who has more than three years left on his contract, is not in any rush to take on a fresh challenge away from the current Premier League leaders.
However, Arsenal may aim to create additional transfer cash for Mikel Arteta this summer, with Nuno Tavares returning from a loan spell with Marseille to take Tierney's position.
Much may possibly depend on Tierney's amount of game time at City now that Ake has done so well in place of Cancelo since the turn of the year.
