Football News: Arsenal to target this La Liga defender this summer?

Arsenal are said to be interested in Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand. The Gunners are focused on winning the Premier League, but transfer plans for next season are already being drawn up.

While one of the main area is bolstering their defence which appears to be on the top of their list. Mikel Arteta presently has centre-back alternatives in William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, and Jakub Kiwior.

The Gunners are eager to improve their team as they prepare to return to the Champions League next season. Thus, Arsenal have identified Le Normand as a potential contender to bolster their defensive ranks, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Reports claim Le Normand impressed Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard while playing for Real Sociedad in the 2019-20 season. Le Normand only recently signed a new contract with Real Sociedad, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.

If Arsenal opt to pursue a summer transfer, they will need to activate Le Normand's release clause, which is thought to be worth £53M. The defender, who can play for France or Spain, has previously stated that he is willing to spend the rest of his career with Real Sociedad.

If Imanol Alguacil's squad fails to qualify for the Champions League, Le Normand will have to reconsider his options in the summer.

With nine games remaining in the La Liga season, Real Sociedad sit in fourth place, three points ahead of fifth-placed Real Betis.

Le Normand has been a vital figure in Real Sociedad's defence this season, starting 24 of his 26 league games.

Le Normand has appeared in 171 games for the Basque club in all competitions since signing in 2019, contributing four goals and six assists.
