Football: Bahrain edge India 1-0 with last minute penalty in Asian Cup

Jamal Rashed's last-minute penalty secured a 1-0 win for Bahrain over India to give 'The Red' a great chance of advancing to the AFC Asian Cup knockout stage. Bahrain came close to breaking the deadlock when substitute Mohamed Marhoon was denied by the woodwork with 20 minutes to go. India continued to hold off Bahrain's advances, but finally conceded a penalty late in the game when Hamed Alshamsan was brought down by Pronay Halder. Jamal Rashed made no mistake from the spot and Bahrain claimed the three points. With the United Arab Emirates and Thailand drawing 1-1, Bahrain finished third in Group A and will likely seal a place in the round of 16 as one of the four best third-placed teams.
