Egan Bernal produced a late surge to take the overall lead of the Tour de Suisse on Thursday as Antwan Tolhoek held on to narrowly deny him a stage six victory. Tolhoek broke away from a 25-man leading group with just over three kilometres to go, and with half that distance remaining, had built a 30 second advantage. However, Bernal launched a stunning attack over the final kilometre, pulling Tolhoek within his sights, but the Dutchman held on to win. Bernal holds a 12-second lead over Rohan Dennis in the overall standings with three stages remaining, with Patrick Konrad a further 17 seconds back.
